Experiment #1
Brief: Create a typeface inspired by music. Communicate the essence and inspiration of the chosen design on A3 presentation boards. Characters to include: A-Z / 0-9.

Concept: The idea for this project is sound waves, in particular, how sound fades after its inception.

Inspiration: The use of a radial gradient is common in logo design, however, less regular in typography. With this design I wanted to experiment with developing a readable typeface using a radial gradient (incorporating transparency) based on a perfect circle. I was initially inspired by the logo of Mindshare designed by Moving Brands.

Method: The typeface ranges from 100% to 0% opacity in relation to the sound dispersing into the environment. Due to its transparent nature, the type can be used in conjunction with any background colour. Originally the type had to be either the height of one circle or one and a half. This proved impossible with the characters M and N not conforming to this rule. I had hoped that each character could incorporate at least half a circle, but again characters like Z made this impossible. For me this project is still ongoing
